By creating matte and washed-out colors, the design team was able to enhance the archival form and construction of the traditional running shoe.Contrasting grid-like patterns and bold, opaque colors, the Functional Utopia-inspired variations make a direct reference to nature. These glossy primary colors are set off by metallic textures that accentuate the double-layered mesh materialization. The designers also explored the influences of Mino ceramics by examining the contemporary processes of rust-like properties that occur in Mino glazes. This process views images as a vessel with attenuated colors that can stand the test of time.
